Hi Ed,

Thanks so much for your site. I discovered it while doing some research on pocket watches. I am tired of buying a new $35 Timex every year only to have it die on me. I am interested in something that has some character and will last me a while. I have been looking at the Molijna pocket watches for an all around everyday watch. Then I saw your article on the Chinese Seagull. My wife travels to China every year to work with orphans and if I could give her a description on what to buy, she might be able to pick up something for me. Any suggestions on where to look? Any other suggestions on how to buy a vintage watch without breaking the bank? I have my Grandad's old Caravelle that he received when retiring from the fire department. It is engraved and has a fire truck on the front. The problem is it doesn't hold time well and I have already had it fixed once recently. I'm looking for ways to expand the collection I guess.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Todd

When it comes to buying a Chinese watch in China proper, I would join the Poor Man's Watch Forum and ask AlbertaTime on the Chinese watch sub-forum
